Aerosol Photometer Model 3991

        Aerosols are solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas, usually particles, droplets, or aerosol foams

       An Aerosol Photometer is an instrument used to measure the light scattering or absorption properties of suspended particles in the air, known as aerosols.

Aerosol Photometer

       An aerosol photometer usually works by illuminating an aerosol sample with a light source. When the light interacts with the aerosol particles, part of the light is scattered or absorbed. The instrument measures the intensity of scattered or absorbed ligt to estimate the concentration of aerosols in the air.

      Aerosol photometers are mainly used for HEPA Filter Leakage Test and air quality monitoring: 
1. HEPA filter testing: used to evaluate the filtration efficiency of high-efficiency (HEPA) filters to ensure they meet staards.

2. Cleanroom & Facility Monitoring: Test the performance of filters in the air purification system to ensure that the clean environment meets specified requirements. 

3. Medical and biological laboratories: used to ensure that the filtration system effectively intercepts particles during testing of sterile environments or biological safety cabinets.

      Aerosol photometers are often used in conjunction with DOP (dioctyl phthalate) or PAO (polyalpha olefin) aerosol generators to evaluate a filtration system's ability to remove micron-sized particles.

       It is mentioned in the ISO standard that the measurement standard for aerosol photometer is 0,000 1 mg/m3 to 100 mg/m3; the resolution is 0.0001; it is best to choose a rectangular sampling probe with Dp = 1 cm and Wp = 8 cm.
